George Davies
George Davies is a successful serial entrepreneur, fashion designer and
retailer based in the UK. He has been dubbed as a ‘serial brand creator’, and
the ‘King of the Highstreet” and “the leading fashion visionary by The Times
(London), Drapers, and the Liverpool Echo. He was awarded the 'Drapers Record
Life Time Achievement' Award in 2003 and the prestigious ‘Designer of the
Decade” by Prima in 2004. It has recently been estimated by the ‘Financial
Times’ that Davies has been responsible for the sale of over £54 billion worth
of clothing since the inception of Next. Mr. Davies has been behind the success
of the retailer ‘Next’ in the 1980’s before moving on to start the fashion label
‘George at Asda’ in the 1990’s. Following Asda’s acquisition by Walmart, Mr.
Davies launched the Per Una label at Marks & Spencer. Mr. Davies current venture
is ‘FG4’ a new retail clothing chain in the Middle East and North Africa.
Mr. Davies is passionate about educating the impoverished and children with
special needs and is currently a patron of ‘Soham for Kids’ in India and 'Chitra
Lane' in Sri Lanka. He is also involved in 'Wounded for Us', a charity that
helps wounded war veterans.
